Memo to Cellos (March 23, 2010)

Hi cello folks,

Here's a little audio demo (mp3 file) of that exposed cello section in the first movement of the Still symphony. I'm hoping you can all work on this at home a little over the coming week so it's in good shape next week.

You'll notice I've altered the notation very slightly in the image above. In your printed parts the final three eighth notes in the 3rd and 5th measures are all beamed together, which might make you think those are triplets. Either notation is correct, but they're not triplets.

This demo recording is in a very strict tempo. Once we can play this reliably, we'll think about adding a little expression -- but first we need to get the rhythm right.  :-)
